Human rights -
You don't need to know all the human rights but you need an idea of what they are watch the slide show below to find out about some of the human rights -
Christian views on human rights-
Agree- Sanctity of life suggests that all life is special and should be treated as such
- "Nor Jew , nor greek , nor slave , nor free , nor male , nor ,female you are all one in christ Jesus " promotes that we are all equal - " Love thy neighbour" suggests we should try and do the most loving thing for everyone - Parable of the sheep and goats suggests we should treat everyone as Jesus and we would't abuse Jesus's human rights |
Disagree- Human rights includes the right to marry and some Christians believe that Gay people don't have the right to marry
- Human rights includes the rights to a family and some Christians are against Gay couples adopting children - Some Christians are also against interfaith marriage which goes against the right to marry - Finally Catholics and evangelical protestants don't allow women clergy therefore they rant treated equally to men |
Heres an exam question you can write / plan -
B part - Do you believe that all humans are entitled to their human rights ?
B part - Do you believe that all humans are entitled to their human rights ?
Cloning -
There are three main types of cloning the first is animal cloning you may have herd of Dolly the sheep ( As shown in picture ) the first ever cloned animal.
More commonly however plants are cloned by farmers to produce the best harvest ( see picture )
The last is therapeutic cloning which is the cloning of stem cells for medical purposes
Genetic Engineering -
Genetic engineering can be used to cure genetic diseases in humans by removing the fault gene and replacing it with a healthy one however there are mixed views about this within the Christian religion you should know about -
Yes- Jesus was a healer and therefore we should follow in his footsteps
- " Love thy neighbour " - " Do unto others " - Non catholic Christians believe that at first embryos are not humans and therefore its okay to use them in genetic engineering - By creating cells we are not creating humans therefore we rant playing God by doing so |
No- Sanctity of life teaches that we should't play good
- We should't try to create a perfect earth as only heaven should be perfect - Possibly God intended them to have a genetic disorder and we should't mess with Gods plans |
Yes - But not using embryosThis view is mainly Catholics -
- They believe that right from conception a embryo is a life and therefore we should't use them - " thou shall not kill " - Embryos are produced during IVF which catholics disagree with ( They agree with other reasons from column 1 ) |
Now you can write or plan this exam question -
